US Eyes Tariffs on Chinese Solar Panels OR Produce Cheaper renewable energy from solar, wind, hydro, thermal, tidal and/or nuclear to replace the oil that will not be there some day. Cheaper alternative fuels from algae, bacteria, the biomass or the waste stream. NO subsidies or tariffs needed! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle is, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using ‘other’ forms of transportation or car pool to lower your cost for transportation. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Tariffs should have been placed on all Chinese imports back when they signed into a free trade agreement. Its no secret that US companies have been undercut by cheap Chinese imported garbage forcing factory closures and massive layoffs all across the US. FULL POWER AHEAD with the TARIFFS! I rather pay a little extra for a US-made, quality controlled product rather than some Communist Chinese inferior crap that falls apart.

Why all the get up on solar panels? It would not be my choice for energy for the U.S. now or in the future.

Just forget about solar, manufactures want tariffs because their products are not economically feasible.

I doubt that the US has the backbone to stand up to the Chinese and make it work.

Yep - the Solar industry - the backbone of OBozo's green energy plan. How many BILLIONS in grants and loans from the Fed Energy Dept? And how many bankruptcies and defaults on loans financed by US -THE TAXPAYERS?
and now they want tariff protection! Wonder who's election coffers they are pouring millions into?

Moot point. Bolster the panels or not -- they are unaffordable.
Solar has much more involved than panels. Construction, maintenance, batteries, power inverters and switching equipment are also part of the overall cost.
Only when cost is NOT a factor does PV solar make sense. When the sun shines, that is.

We certainly have the ability to make quality just about anything and get it to the consumer at a decent price....it's politics that get in the way.

So what else is new... Nice not to trade with them on moral/ethical grounds, but from a business perspective, not much will change... a potential market of 1+ billion is hard to ignore

We probably should not be trading with any country that keeps its people in bondage; the slave labor wages ALONE being sufficient, but I also am not in favor of giving the Federal government more money.

I'm getting ready to buy a couple of additional solar panels, and I most likely will NOT buy Chinese made solar panels if I can avoid it. Depends on what I'm able to find, and I should be able to buy one or more American made panels; which is an example others should follow here in this country if they want to retain or grow jobs with as little government involvement as possible. It's the same with razors, buy the cheap made Chinese crap, get a bad shave and lose jobs or buy American made razors and get a better shave, a longer lasting razor and keep or grow jobs.

US eyes tariffs on chinese solar panels, but what gets protected.Even with tariffs on chinese products it's still cheaper,we need to look at this closely.

You're worried about solar panels when gas and diesel prices are ridiculous?
Anything to get some cheaper energy is welcomed.

This is just a ploy by Obama to cadge more campaign contributions from the solar panel industry before the rest of them go broke.
