Marin officials lodge complaint against PG&E

Mucrury News -- Marin County energy officials have filed a complaint with the California Public Utilities Commission over what they claim are attempts by Pacific Gas and Electric Co. to quash their plans to offer an alternative, cleaner energy source to county residents.
The Marin Energy Authority announced the complaint Friday, claiming that PG&E was violating state law by seeking to kill the Marin Clean Energy initiative.

The initiative, a program of the authority, is intended to increase the use of renewable energy in Marin County. It would also place the authority in the position of a competitor with PG&E as a provider of electricity in the area.

Local utilities are often the only "legal" monopoly in the United States. If utility companies had to compete they would end up lowering prices and increasing customer service.

Progress, not stagnation. Renewable energy from solar, wind, thermal, tidal, hydro and/or nuclear – support the national electrical grid. Alternative fuels from NON food sources and the waste stream. No subsidies for fuel made from food and no corn used. Alternative fuels from many different sources, the ‘source’ will depend on what is available in that particular area.

The consumer has to be considered is these things as the consumer is always the one to pay for all projects like this. The dollar is important, yes, but if your bankrupt it's the most important.

Not relevant to this forum. This article is about a natural gas and electric matter. Who cares about a California utility company anyway?

Let the free market reign. If Marin County can truly offer unsubsidized, cheaper energy from alternative sources, then let them compete.

BIG FUEL INTERESTS ARE NOTHING BUT greedy SOB'S AND HAVE THE GOVERNMENT ON THEIR SIDE BECAUSE THEY GET THEIR WAR CHESTS FILLED, ESPECIALLY AT ELECTION TIME. Remember Nancy Peelouzy and buck toothed Henry Waxhead come from California, and most Californians have told me they're a total embarassment.
